This case follows Electrohome (A): Projection Systems Division, and Electrohome (B): The Phoenix Project. The Phoenix project is on track for completion before a critical trade show in January 1993. It is now August and the management team must decide whether or not to pre-announce the product or delay the announcement for maximum impact and surprise.
Learning Objective:
To develop skills in analyzing strategy and anticipating the actions of competitors in an effort to retain or strive for market leadership. The case series addresses issues of competitive analysis and competitive dynamics in a technology-intensive industry. It is unusual because it looks at a specific market, industrial projection systems, from the perspective of two of the three major players in a global industry.
